Today we drove to the Twelve Apostles and back to Melbourne again. We decided to drive along the Great Ocean Road and stop every so often at the attractions along the way. The kids were great even though the three y.o. asked about a thousand and one questions. We had a great time that we have decided to do more day trips especially with the good weather on the way.

Anyway, my question is this, what is your favourite destination within Victoria and why?

We finally need to update the family car. Wondering if anyone has any tips. The hubbie wants a station wagon but I’m not too keen. I said I’ll settle for a Holden Adventra (a couple of years old). Anyway I was wondering if anyone has any tips on the best family car to get and also tips on Lend Leasing. We thought of going through lend leasing (novated leasing) Does anyone have any experience they can share before we take the plunge?

What’s your favourite dish?

I just had a go at making Irish Stew and it turned out to be a delight. My hubby was horrified when I told him I was going to put his beloved lamb chops into a stew. However, after finishing the dish he couldn’t stop raving about it. Anyway my question is what is your favourite dish to cook up? I think mine would have to be roast lamb its easy and delicious or Osso bucco. Yum, it makes me hungry just thinking about it.
Watching TV tonight I was once again subjected to the word “bugger” being used in a commercial. I’m sure that the regularators of commercials/television know the true meaning of the word and still they continue using it in their commercials. There would be an absolute outcry if the word f#%k was used so frequently and liberally, yet there is no problem with using the word bugger.  It makes me cringe when a child goes around saying the word ‘bugger’ when something goes wrong. If they really knew what they were saying they would more than likely stop using the word. So often I have asked a student to stop using the word in class and have also asked them to look up the word in a dictionary before they use the word again. They soon stop using the word in my presence. Does anyone else have a problem with this word being used so liberally?

My Little Past Time

Little over a month ago my daughter turned three and as you do I needed to make a few cakes. Anyway this inspired me to offer to make birthday cakes for a few members of the extended family. I always knew I was fairly clever in the kitchen, however, never imagined that I was artistically inclined in the art of cake decorating. I seem to suprise myself with each cake I make. Mum says I should take some lessons and give up my currents profession (Chemistry & Biology Teacher) and start making cakes professionally while I watch the kids grow up at home. How would I market myself?

Anyway, these are some of my creations.

The “Nook Diet” Week Three

Weight: 82.5kg (loss 0.5 kg)

Measurements: Bust 110 Waist 105 Hips 116

Emotional Status: Got the flu this week so lost some motivation, however, I’m determined to start exercising again now that I can breathe. I’m happy though I didn’t try as much as I did the first week but still managed to lose some weight. Back on track this week

The “Nook Diet” Week Two

Yippee, I’ve lost weight in the first week and I’m feeling great.

Weight: 83 kg (lost 2kg)

Measurements: bust 113.5 (down 2.5cm) waist 106.5 (down 3.5cm) and hips 116 (down 1cm)

Emotional Status: Feeling great and really proud of myself. I’ve had a great week filled with good food and eating habits and plenty (well adequate exercise) It has been suprisingly easy to stick to it. I done so well that I was able to lose 2 whole kilograms. What a great effort. I had a visit from a relative that lives in Sydney and she has lost 44 kg.  Just seeing at how well she has done and how healthy she looks has given me the added incentive to achieve. I aim to lose 25-30 kg by the end of the year. That’s my goal.

Losing Weight On The nook Diet

After having my second child 10 weeks ago, I think I’ve already put on about 5 kilos (on top of an already overweight frame) So I’ve decided it is time to do something about it. I’m sick of paying organisations to lose weight so I’m going to try to do it myself, using nook as an incentive.

I’ve bought a set of bathroom scales and I begin today. I’ve taken my intial weight and measurements. I will give weekly updates each Monday commenting on my weight loss and my emotional status. I hope that if I can share my hopeful success, it will give me the willpower to achieve and continue. My goal is to lose at least 25 - 30 kg. There is a lot to lose but hopefully I’ll get there. So here goes.

Monday 16th April Week One

Initial Weight: 85kg

Initial Measurements: Bust 116cm, Waist 110cm, Hip 117cm

Emotional Status: I feel determined but tired. Broken sleep due to a middle of the night feed (which does often occur) has left me feeling tired. However, I have woken up with the attitude that nothing is going to stop me. No more excuses. Positive attitude from now on.

Hi All,

I’ve just spent the last week making & decorating a number of cakes for my daughter’s third birthday (3 separate parties and 5 cakes!!!! However, that’s an entirely different nook entry) . I thoroughly enjoyed creating the cakes so I have decided to undertake some cake decorating classes/workshops but I have not been able to find anything on the net. Hence, I was wondering if anyone knows of any cake decorating schools? Please, I would really appreciate the name or location of some good courses in cake decorating.

Hi All,

I’m not too sure whether I’m updating this nook correctly but what the heck, I’m sure the message will get out to all the wonderful people that responded to the nook: What’s in a name?

First let me start by thanking everyone that responded. My husband and I finally decided on a name as we were escorted into theatre (caesar baby) We gave birth to a healthy baby boy weighing 9 pounds (4.080 kg) and stretching 50 cm in length.

However, the big question that I’m sure you all want answered is his name. At 3.09pm on Friday the 2nd of Feb we welcomed:

Dean Arthur into the world. After reading all the responses and tossing the names around countless times we finally decided on Dean. Mum, Dad and his big sister are all very proud of our baby Dean.

As soon as I learn how to I will download a photo of him
